Term by Term Checklist

Why You’re Missing the Mark

Every project stalls because the checklist lives in a drawer, gathering dust while deadlines sprint past. Look: without a term-by-term framework, you’re juggling blindfolded.

Step One – Define Scope

Scope isn’t a vague idea; it’s a contract with yourself. Write down the exact deliverable, the timeline, the budget — no fluff. By the way, this is where most teams trip up, assuming “we’ll figure it out later.”

Step Two – Assign Ownership

Who owns what? Pinpoint the champion for each term. If you can’t name a person, you’ve already failed the checklist. Here is the deal: accountability kills ambiguity.

Step Three – Set Milestones

Milestones are the heartbeat of progress. Break the project into bite-size chunks, each with a clear deadline. A 30-day sprint? Mark it. A 90-day review? Flag it.

Step Four – Risk Buffer

Risks aren’t optional. List potential blockers, assign probability, and carve out contingency time. If you ignore risk, you’re courting chaos. And here is why: unplanned delays bleed budgets.

Step Five – Review Criteria

How will you know it’s done? Define success metrics before the first line of code is written. Click-through rate? Conversion lift? Concrete numbers, not feelings.

Step Six – Legal & Compliance

Contracts, data protection, regulatory sign-offs — treat them like any other term. Miss one, and the whole stack can crumble. The Term-by-term checklist lives here.

Step Seven – Communication Loop

Schedule a quick stand-up, a weekly recap, a monthly deep dive. No meeting, no update, no progress. Fast, frequent, focused — don’t overcomplicate.

Step Eight – Sign-off Protocol

When a term is complete, get a signature, an email, a Slack emoji — anything that proves closure. Without a sign-off, you’re stuck in limbo forever.

Now, grab a pen, draft the first term, and lock it down. No more excuses.
